Lucy's Drowning

Highly dangerous machines in the hands of an idiot

Observations from Dublin’s pro-life march

I could write an endless amount, but I’ll just stick to the redoubt of the poorly-expressed, the bullet point.

All in all, a cracking way to spend an afternoon.

From yesterday’s pro-choice counter demonstration in Dublin, originally from someecards.

Dublin gets some nice sunsets this time of year.

From an upmarket Dublin housing development. A photo that, to me, just says “Yeah man, took a gram of MDMA this morning and quit my job when I got in two hours late”

Via the consistently delightful Come Here To Me.

Perhaps a fitting summation of what our police force has accomplished over the last few days. I care not for your “historic” gestures, I don’t think two speeches were worth the millions we paid. I laugh in the face of the apologist refrain of “tourism” and I quiver with rage at the fact the Rape Crisis Network of Ireland was nearly shut down over want of €270k amidst this fenced excess.

Sitting on immobilised public transport, waiting to get to an underfunded hospital before visiting hours end may have pushed me over the edge.

With some degree of sadness I sit in my favourite coffee shop with a good book.

As I emerged from a shop in a bit of a post-piercing daze a fellow struck up conversation, complimenting my bag. He was an American guy, carrying a gorgeous journal and travelling the world by couch. We walked and talked through town and arranged to meet and hang out in this place at an indeterminate hour. The Egyptian revolution gripped me so much that I tarried that little bit too long and according to the staff, missed him by 10 minutes. So, whoever you are, traveller, this coffee is for you.
